It’s Been a Long Time Coming (inspired by Sam Cooke)
Today the world celebrates hope; the world has finally seen justice and truth become reality. Thousands who are aware of what struggles feel like are in tears of joy knowing that their tears can now be wiped away. Throughout the Bible God would send prophets, kings and later his son to show His people there is hope. There were always miracles performed and many would then believe.
Today one of America’s biggest miracle has been manifested.
Many have prophesied in different corners of the world that the oppressed people will one day rise to a great level and rule in peace and justice. Those oppressed by poverty, racial discrimination, homelessness, wars, terrorism, isolation, political figures etc.
Martin Luther King’s speech is being played over and over in my mind, “I have a dream.” He dreamt that people would be judged by the contents of their character not by the color of their skin.
People from that era prayed until finally prayer, hope, tears and hurt came together and destiny had it where somewhere a young boy was born and was programmed, as we are all programmed to serve humanity to be agents of change. He followed the chants of the ex-slaves and civil rights activists “O Freedom, O Freedom, O Freedom Over Me, But Before I Be Slave I’ll Be Buried in My Grave and Go Home to My God and Be Free.”
Barrack Obama must have started humming and dancing in synchronized motions to the rhythms of the people from a young age. His message is now being shouted out to the world and the world has now begun to sing and dance to his song “Change We Can believe In.”
Justice and Peace must reign. Let us continue to keep this prayer in our everyday lives, may thy kingdom come here in our hearts and minds as it is in heaven.
